My first experience flying a light aircraft was in the summer of 2017. For my birthday that year, I decided to treat myself with a gift related to aviation.

I purchased online a 30-minute flight voucher and scheduled the flight with a school providing the service. It was at a small airfield near Dolna Banya LBDB, not more than 1 hour by car from Sofia.

After a safety briefing and walkaround, we took off and header over Borovets Ski Resort and the stunning Rila Mountain in a Tecnam P92JS—a small two-seater, barely heavier than a living room couch, but an absolute joy to fly.

The instructor gave me controls en-route and also let me practice some 360 degrees rate 1 turns (that is a full circle in 2 minutes) over Borovets, descend and do the approach on our way back; he did the landing.

It felt great and I was so excited. In the following days I could not stop dreaming about flying again, but then life happened, and it took me more than 3 years to go back in the cockpit - this time as a student.
